Although Steve Kardian started the Martial Arts in 1977 and earned his Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate in 1984 it wasn't until the early 90's that he discovered Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and went on to become an early American Gracie-Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Phil Migliarese, Relson Gracie's top American Black Belt instructor. Steve spent 6 years as an assistant instructor at the Gracie Jiu-Jits Academy in Torrance, California. Steve Kardian is pictured below on his first day of training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with Rickson Gracie, the most talented of the Gracie Brothers.
